Between Digital and Green Transformation, Bringing Technology Closer to People's Lives
The Kaohsiung Smart City Expo is an important IoT and digital governance platform in southern Taiwan, with digital and green transformation as its two core axes. Based on big data, IoT, and AI technologies, the Civil IoT Taiwan program focuses on key issues such as earthquakes, water resources, air quality, and disaster prevention and response, strengthening the resilience of city governance.
This exhibition presented technical achievements, but it also aimed to use spatial and interactive design to make complex system structures clearly understandable and build trust among government, industry, and the public.
Lowering the Barrier to Understanding Through Intuitive Interaction
Public governance and IoT architecture are highly specialized. If presented only through static text and images, they are often difficult to understand and identify with quickly.
This exhibition used intuitive interaction as its core strategy, translating abstract system architecture into forms that could be operated, watched, and sensed. Through visitor-flow design and interaction rhythm, it guided visitors from seeing to understanding, and then toward building trust.
I. Disaster-Prevention Information Cube Tree
Multi-Screen Integration x Touch Triggering x Spatial Dynamic Linkage
The core installation, the Disaster-Prevention Information Cube Tree, connected multi-screen modules with dynamic fan devices to form a distinctive three-dimensional structure. Through a touchscreen panel, visitors could switch among five major themes: water, air, land, disaster, and industrialization, then watch the corresponding audiovisual introductions.
II. Historical Review Projection Mapping Wall
A curved wall combined with animated illustration projection mapping connected the nine-year development history of Civil IoT Taiwan. From the program's launch to its expanding applications, the timeline served as the narrative backbone, allowing visitors to naturally understand the program's evolution and accumulated results as they moved through the space.
The curved structure wrapped the viewer's field of vision, making the content more immersive and adding emotional depth beyond rational information. This was not only a technical program, but also a journey of continuously advancing public safety and environmental governance.
